After more than two years of renovation, the Casino Bern reopened its doors last week.
The Casino Bern is a house with history, a witness of cultural diversity since time immemorial and wants to continue to be so in the future: Everything from a single source at the highest level: we can expect lasting concert experiences and culinary highlights under the direction of Ivo Adam, Director and Nik Leuenberger, Head of Culture.
Last Thursday we already had a taste. A festive menu in the Burgerratssaal, followed by a concert.
As immediate neighbours, we saw that there was still work to be done until the last minute, and then this triumphant return of the Bern Symphony Orchestra to its headquarters at Casinoplatz. The conductor Mario Venzago moderated the evening. As a lively and prudent conductor, he tells what it means for an orchestra to refill the room with music, and not only emotionally but also technically, it is a challenge because the sound conditions have changed slightly. I found this very interesting and also very demanding.
To celebrate the day there was also a show interlude with Igudesman and Joo: "James Bond or Mozart"? we also heard Bach's festive Brandenburg Concerto No.2. I was particularly enchanted by the breathtakingly sensual interpretation of Ravel's G major piano concerto played by Fazil Say.
As surprise guests Lo & Leduc came on stage with their bear song "079" played together with the symphony orchestra - a force.
I am curious about the cultural and culinary offer of the new casino.
